Hello, to all my faithful readers!
I am about to embark on a two week journey that will take me from Minneapolis to Paris, France and then all the way to Rome, Italy, with a few other stops along the way. In this blog, I will layout my itinerary or schedule, so you can keep track of my whereabouts.
June 5th: Leave the Minneapolis airport. Land in Toronto, with a 7 HOUR LAYOVER!!
June 6th: Arrive in Paris around 9:30 AM. Remember that the time difference is 7 hours ahead. My body will still be on Minnesota time, which, when I land will be 2:30 AM. I will be very tired.
I'm hoping that I won't notice my tiredness. This is the day I have been waiting for, for a long time. I get to see the Eiffel Tower and eat a French Crepe with bananas and Nutella, a chocolate hazelnut spread. (Thanks Katie for the suggestion:-)
June 7th: I plan to travel to Versaille, the Palace of the Sun King, Louis the XIV (Ooooo, Roman Numerals, a guess anyone?)
June 8th: I will devote my day to the Louvre. One of the largest art museums in the world! It houses such works as The Mona Lisa, by Leonardo Da Vinci and French Painters like Monet and Matisse.
June 9th: Speaking of Monet. . . Today I hope to travel to Giverny. In this small town, not far outside of Paris is where the home of Claude Monet resides. There, I will walk around in Monet's garden, sketch some waterlilies floating beneath the Japanese bridge and have a picnic lunch on the banks of the pond. If you want to see what I'm seeing. Read the book, "Linnea in Monet's Garden." GREAT pictures.
June 10th: I will leave Paris:-( and head down to Lyon, as I prepare for my travels through Italy.
June 11th: Milan. This is where Da Vinci painted his fresco of "The Last Supper"
June 12th: Verona! The place where the Montagues and Capulets didn't get along. I may even make it to Padua, the place where Romeo was banished after he killed Tybalt.
June 13th: Firenze or Florence!
June 14th: Travel to see the leaning tower of Pisa.
June 14th-15: Cinque Terra (Five Lands) Five towns along the Italian Coast. Awesome!
June 15th-19th: ROME! I get to see everything that we studied in Ancient Civ! I even might make it down to the ruins of Pompeii.
19th: Fly home:-(
