Montmatre to Milan

Okay, I want to go back and tell you about what has been happening the past couple of days. I have now left Paris, and France all together and am writing now from Milano (Like Milano cookies)!

After spending two days in the heart of Paris, I took two days and toured around the outskirts of Paris called Montmatre. It was far less touristy and full of fun shops and places to eat. I found this one restaurant that served this delicious garlicky salad with fried potatoes on top. I ate there TWICE it was so yummy.

During the next two days I saw several important monuments.I visited the Louvre Museum and saw the Mona Lisa and the Venus Di Milo. Two very famous works of art.

On one of my many walks I came upon Notre Dame. It looked just like it does in the Hunchback of Notre Dame movie, but I was actually not as impressed as I have been with other cathedrals in Europe. It was cool to see but nothing spectacular. Outside Notre Dame I saw a British movie being filmed. I tried to take a picture but the movie producers got really mad!!

I also went to see Versaille, the Palace of Louis the XIV. I couldn't get over how ornate the ceilings were. Every single room had a theme and a new mural on the walls. Very expensive and extravagant.

On my last day in Paris, I made a trip to Giverny. This little train took me an hour outside of Paris to the town where Claude Monet did many of his paintings and lived with his wife and many children. It was a dream come true to visit, even though it was drizzling and I only got to spend a little bit of time there. Someday I would love to go back.

On Wednesday I took the train south to Chambery, which is in France but everyone in town wants to be Swiss. There are Swiss flags everywhere. That was also the first place that I saw the Alps. They were beautiful!!

I only stayed in Chambery for a few hours and then I took another train that took me to Milan. I got in really late and just wanted to find my hotel and go to sleep.

I am now in Milan! It has the most beautiful cathedral called the Duomo.I tried uploading a video but it is taking TOO long. Try looking it up online. The Duomo in Milan, Italy. Enjoy!

Love, Ms. Knaeble
